First thing to look at is overheating issues, take off the side case so you can see inside. Get some air in a can, gasduster, compressed air whatever you want to call it, from your local office depot or equivalent. Clean all of your fans with the air can and don't miss the one on your video card if there is one! be sure the fins on the CPU heatsink are blown clean as well!
Believe it or not this will probably solve your problems. I have built my own systems for about 15 years and was stumped when my system was shutting down randomly and every time i did a virus scan too! I knew it wasnt the CPU fan or case fans cause i had cleaned them recently! After dealing with it for about a month I finnally broke down and decieded to get to the bottom of the problem and removed the video card to change it with another to see if that was the problem and when I looked into the fan on the video card it was VERY dirty, I blew the dust out with the canned air and reinstalled the card>I havent had the problem since!
If this didnt work it could also be caused by:
a) bad or overheating CPU
b) bad or unavailable sector in ram
c) bad or overheating motherboard
