No. A database can be manual, like a phone book or a shopping list. For it to be a database it needs to be structured or organised. If you take a phone book, although there are thousands of names in it, you can usually find a phone number you are looking for very quickly. This is because the phone book is structured and organised. So it does not have to be on a computer to be a database. A manual database can be computerised. The data would be entered into a computer.

A manual database is a paper based database. A computerized database is one which is held on a computer in an organised manner. A computerized database is more advantageous than manual database in terms of speed, flexibility, and ease.A manual database would normally be data held on paper. So this could be things like a phone book or address book, or files held in a filing cabinet. A computerised database is held on a computer in an organised and structured form. Usually this is done using a database application such as Oracle or Access etc. It is easy to manipulate and extract data, so far more efficient than a manual database.
Folders on computers. e.g computerised Yellow page( computerised phone book). Normal phone books are paper-based database.
One disadvantage of a computerized database is the potential for system failures or crashes, which can result in the loss of valuable data if not properly backed up. Another disadvantage is the risk of data breaches or unauthorized access if the database security measures are not robust enough. Additionally, maintaining and updating a computerized database can be complex and time-consuming, requiring specialized knowledge and resources.
I have experience in entering data accurately and efficiently into computerized systems and databases. I am an expert in ensuring data integrity, using software tools, and ensuring timely updates in order to ensure smooth operations.

I think the advantages of computerized system are: 1. It uses electricity. 2. It helps us to be lazy. 3. Sometimes it has a problem. 4. Computerized database are sometimes has an error. But for me, computerized system is better than manual database. ^_^
The computerized medical database should be on-line to the computer terminal only when authorized computer programs requiring the medical data are being used. Individuals and organizations external to the clinical facility should not be provided with on-line access to a computerized data base containing identifiable data from medical records concerning patients. visit: http://www.netreach.net/~wmanning/ama507.htm
