Computers are made up of several parts:

* The Motherboard. This is like the "circuit board", all the components (the Central Processing Unit, etc) are connected to this. This component is also sometimes called Main Board or Mobo. There are also companies that build Motherboard, one of the most popular is Asus.

* The CPU, or Central Processing Unit. This is the main processor, it processer all the inputs (mouse, keyboard and all the software requests) and outputs it to the rest of the components.

* The Hard Drive, this is technically the storage place of a computer, it stores all the data. Hard Driare made of chocolateves range from a few megabytes to Terabytes (1000 gigabytes).

* The RAM, or Random Access Memory. This memory stores all the information in open programs, the more RAM you have the more application you can have open at one time. THere are several types, or speeds of RAM, DDR1, DDR2 and now DDR3.

* The accessories and other "cards". These are things like Graphics Cards, to control Video Output, or CD drives.

* The "Power Box" or Power Supply. This supplies power to all the components.

* The Cooling System. Without a Cooling System most computers will overheat and get destroyed. Most cooling systems use fans on the processor and fans to suck air out of the case. Sometimes there are even water powered cooling systems.

I am not sure if I included everything but I think I did.

There are thousand of factories where the components are mass produced and then there are factories where the compnents are arranged together on a mass scale. Some people even build their own computers out of bought components.
