if you got an old computer that's running slow you can either run an cleaner tool like ccleaner or you can format your hard drive (formatting means you "delete" all the files, programs an your OS from your computer). when you format you hard drive you'll need to backup the files you don't want to lose. I recommend that you first run a cleaner program that cleans your registry, temp folder, etc. If your computer is still running slow (restart your computer after cleaning) you'll have to format and reinstall all your programs (even windows/Mac! you'll need a Mac/Windows CD for this ). If your computer is STILL running slow you'll better buy a new, faster model because your computer can't be rescued anymore.If you're going to format please look up some information before you just click format! maybe you can ask some1 to help. You Could Follow These Steps

1. Go To My Computer and Right Click on ''C'' and go to properties In The General Tab Click Disk Clean up then go to the tools Tab and click defragment now

2. Remove any unwanted Programs from your computer

3. download a program called c cleaner and use it to remove all you internet browsing history and cookies this usually makes it go faster

4. Right Click On My Computer and go to properties on the top left corner it should have a link saying advanced system settings if you click on it, it should open a new window and click on settings where it says performance click on settings and there should be another window open there will be boxes to tick and it most probably would have the box ticked saying adjust for appearance remove that box and tick adjust for best performance

I am pretty sure that RAM makes a computer run much faster. If your computer is running slow try refreshing it or try not running as many things at once because that uses up the RAM needed to make it go faster

P.S. RAM stands for Random Access Memory

Also you might have to many pictures or videos that are using up the bites gigs mega which ever you have so try deleting some and it may clear it up but you should start with the stuff up there! Speed depends upon the RAM and Processor in a system. The unused contents along with the softwares that are not used so often can be cleared off to achieve better performance.

Check plug ins for your browser if you use ff and see if they are up to date, run a performance assessment and see what's slowing it (comp) down, computer/system/performance, usually all the visuals are on, but you can follow prompts to customize and turn off all the ones you don't need. Check ff compatibility with all icons on your desktop, right click and choose. Use only 1 security program to scan-more than that is redundant. There is also an option somewhere to turn off auto updates so you won't constantly have them running without your knowledge. It's been a while since I've done it, but with some searching-another good idea. You can ok with screen prompts when you are not busy or don't need speed. many times I caught several updates running at the same time in the background when my comp was slow, so now I make it ask. Remove any extras with an uninstall. Go to your start up programs list and remove anything you don't need on start up. Go to task manager, run as admin and see all programs running in the background. Turn off all that are unnecessary. Check your free disc space to see you have plenty of available ram. Make sure your flash player, java etc all latest versions.
