1. Find the slot that fits with your nic

2. take the metal slip blocking the slot, out of your computer

3. Insert your nic into the Slot at a 45 degree angle

4. Seat the Nic( Insert it completely)

5. check that it is seated correctly

6. close your computer back up

7.Reboot(Turn on) your computer

A wireless Network Interface Card (NIC) is necessary for setting up a wireless local area network (WLAN). Wireless NIC’s are typically installed inside the computer in an expansion slot. Installing NIC’s will allow computers to share files, printers and broadband internet connections without the use of Ethernet cables. Follow these steps for perfect NIC installation.

• Check to make sure you do not already have a wireless NIC card already installed. If you have Windows, you can click Start, Control Panel, Performance and Management then select System. Choose the Hardware tab, click Device Management. Look in the Network Adapters list for a wireless adapter.

• Once you have determined that a wireless NIC card is not installed, then turn off the computer and remove all the cables from the back, including the power cable. Move the computer to a clean surface and to a place where the floors are not carpeted. Follow your manufacturer’s instructions on how to remove the outer case. It is necessary to have the same type expansion slot as your NIC card.

• Next, you will want to make sure there is no static discharge by touching any metal part of the computer. Once done, then insert the wireless NIC card into the correct expansion slot. You will need an electronics screw in order to secure the card to the chassis.

• After you have attached the card, you can then close the computer and reattach all of the cables you had previously detached. Attach the power cord last, and then turn the computer on.

• The “Found New Hardware” wizard should automatically appear. Once it does, go ahead and run it. Once the wizard is complete, install any extra software that came with the NIC card.

It is very important that you follow the directions given very closely. You also want to make sure that you always discharge any static electricity from your body by touching a metal part of the computer after you have unplugged the cables and power.
