Yes.

A computer's memory is nothing but a bunch of switches... "On" or "Off"

So everything must be represented in a series of 1's and 0's, representing the "on" and "off" of the bits.

The bits are in groups of 8, called a Byte.

So, for example, if you were to save the letter "T", it would be saved as:

01010100

What is the important of binary systems in computer?

All information on computers (and other electronic as well as most optical storage devices) is stored and processed in binary form. This may be bits that are either magnetised or not magnetised in electronic storage, or pits and bands in optical devices. This one-or-the-other is a means of coding information in a binary fashion.

In what format is data stored in a computer?

Data is store momentarily in computers in RAM. Random Access Memory are chips that contain registers that retain their electrical state for as long as its either changed or the power is turn off. Data can also be store permanently in a Hard Drive. HD are nothing more than a magnetic disc that spins around while a writing head magnetises the surface of the disc, creating areas to simbolize ones and zeros; the digital language of computers.
