if its what i think it is , a pile is used as a deep foundation support for a building structure for use on soft ground to give solid support for the new building to "rest" on , short and deep piles are used by a drilling rig and filled with steel cages and concrete and then the pillars of the structure are set onto them , hope this helps im sure you meant SHORT BORE , the smaller and lighter the building the smaller piles that are needed (think of a 4 legged chair the legs being the piles the seat being the building and hey presto).
