"LSI" refers to the practice of putting more components, more transistors, and

more functions on a single chip. This reduces the number of packages required to

do the job, and reduces the circuit-board area required for the device.

The microprocessor in any household PC or laptop is an example of a large-scale-

integrated circuit.

And by the way, while we're on the subject, they're "integrated" circuits, not "intergrated".

While it is typically possible to perform the same thing that an IC can do, using transistors, the industry has pretty well established that IC's are more efficient in terms of space, capacity, speed and energy consumption.

integrated circuits are typically nothing more than a specially designed package containing many micro-miniaturized transistors and other semiconductors.

IC's offer many advantages including high efficiency, high gain, low standby current, low component count, small size and ,of course, low cost.
An IC takes up less space, in many applications is cheaper, and requires less labor to install.
main advantage of IC is its small size and the fact that it consumes less power.

Why thyristors are preferrred over transistors?

Thyristors are preferred in applications that require the characteristics on a thyristor. Thyristors are quite different to transistors, when they turn on, they stay turned on untill the power source is removed. Transistors conduct as controlled by the emitter current.

There is no true advantage of RC circuits over RL circuits, as they perform different functions. RC circuits contain resistors and capacitors, while RL circuits contain resistors and inductors.
