When you computer is put into standby the computer is switched to a low power state...

The memory within the computer is that holds the controlled windows state is volatile, which means that only anything is stored in RAM when there is a current passing through.

So when the computer is in standby the RAM is active, the CPU is active and so is the hard drive... All of these devices are powered down dramatically.

How long can your computer run Uninterruptible power supply?

As long as the UPS has power. UPS's have different run times.

What gets the electricity into a computer?

Typically computers are connected to a UPS. Rarely they are connected to direct power supply. The UPS may provide 110V or 220V supply oscillating at 50Hz and 60Hz. These values depend on the particular country's power supply standards. The electricity supply then goes to SMPS in case of desktops. SMPS is a control circuit that switches the load current rapidly on and off in order to stabilise the output voltage. Typically different components get different levels of voltages. It may range from 1.5V to 12V. Note that computer components run on DC supply not AC supply so it is converted by SMPS. In case of laptops the AC supply is converted to DC and then given to battery which further supplies the laptop components.

Should i put my computer in hibernate or standby mode?

Well its hard to asess because ethier or, could work. Personally i leave my computer in standby mode most of the time. But there are some times that you will need to shut down and it is a healthly choice to shut down the computer every now and then like maybe every second day? Now another thing is, if you are an IT student that needs to run from class to class evry hour i'd suggest just leaving it in standby mode because it takes way too long to boot up after you shut down.

What is a computer processing power?

The central processing unit (CPU) is a chip built into a computer that performs basic calculations that allow the computer to run. Processing power is a measurement of how powerful this chip is, i.e. how fast it can do the required calculations.

Contains the central electronic components of the computer?

In order for a PC to run you will need the following: Power Supply (most important as it supplies power to your PC) Motherboard (think of it as the spinal cord of your PC) CPU (the brains, will not run without it) RAM (this is the memory in which your OS and applications are run from) Hard Drive (this is where your Operating System is stored, as well as data) These are the electronic components needed to run a PC. However there are other items needed to run it effeciently and safely: A PC tower (in which to store the electronic components) PC Fans (in order to keep the system cool which drastically increases it's efficiency and life) CPU cooler (another fan which keeps the CPU cool and running effectively) Mouse (in order to navigate the PC) Keyboard (in order to input information) Monitor (in order to see the information) There is a difference between running a PC, and operating a PC.

What is the function of the power supply in a computer?

It is to allow your computer to run without having to keep it charging right next to a socket all dayThe main purpose of a power supply is to distribute the right amount of power to all the components of a computer.

Is it better to put your computer on standby or turn it off?

Always turn it off, althought computers have standby and hibernate modes, they're not designed to be run constantly, even in a low power mode, severs and the like are the only computers that should be left on all the time.

What is the power saving mode on your computer called?

run, the computer is doing calculations normally (maximum power consumption)sleep, the computer is not doing calculations but maintains DRAM refresh to retain data internally (low power consumption)hibernate, the computer is not doing calculation but saved DRAM to a disk file so that DRAM refresh can also be stopped (minimal power consumption, often the computer actually turns off in this mode)

What is fuction of power supply?

The power supply makes the computer run, without any type of power supply it would be impossible to run a computer. The mains power supply for a laptop and the power supply unit of a desk top, both convert the high AC voltage from the mains power and convert it to low voltage DC, for the electronics of a computer to use.

How many watts does it take to run a home with a standby home generator?

The size of a standby generator needed for maintaining essential power in a home depends on the size of the house and what is considered as essential power. Generators are designed to provide specific amounts of power and have upper limits to their functionality. To properly determine the size and power output of the generator, a critical needs assessment must be made. More powerful generators are more expensive than smaller, less powerful units. Most utility companies do not allow independent sources of power to 'piggyback' on their installed components.

Power for a computer how many amps does it take to run a computer monitor and computer?

The power required to run a basic computer will be 1.35 amps for startup and .7 to .9 amps continuous. The power requirements to run an 17" monitor will be 3.5 amps startup and 1.5 amps continuous.

What is the set of events that occurs between the moment you turn on the computer and the moment you begin to use the computer?

first the PSU will distribute power to your motherboard and main computer components then your computer will run the POST test to make sure its able to run. next your computer will read you CMOS settings so it knows in what order to look for an operating system then if there is more than one it will ask u to select one and it will run the operating system and then your computer is all the way on

What are the examples of mini computer?

A computer that is designed small and used to fit and save desk space when space is needed. Some get really small and can attach to the back of an lcd monitor and run off batteries. They have smaller components, smaller cases, smaller power supplies, smaller power usage as well.
