All formulas begin with an equals sign, so that is the first thing you put in. After that you can have operators such as the plus sign, the minus sign and others. You can have numbers, text and other data types, like dates and logical values. You can have any of Excel's built-in functions. You can have cell references or named references in formulas. So, depending on what you want the formula to do, it can have a lot of things.
