It is a protocol specification for exchanging structured information related to Web Services in computer networks (usually used with the Internet). It uses eXtensible Markup Language (XML) as the primary messaging format.Since Excel 2007 uses XML-based files, I suppose it would be easy for a SOAP programmer to uncompress and extract data from the Excel file. I am not aware of any major applications that do this, but it should be possible.
