Digital paper is commonly understood to be paper with a barely visible raster printed onto the surface. This enables the use of seamingly regular (but generally quite specialised) pens for handwritten notes or sketches. The pen or some related scanning and recording aparatus uses the grid to trace the handwriting, which can then be transferred into the computer and converted into a digital image or document format.
