UTP = Unshielded Twisted Pair

STP = Shielded Twisted Pair

Usually I'd only really use STP if the wire was going to be exposed to the elements. Sometimes a customer might want a wired connection in their garden shed which is a few yards from their house. If this is the case, Id just get STP and take a direct connection out. If your just taking wires around your average house or office then UTP should be fine and its alot cheaper then STP.

UTP Is unshielded and STP is shielded UTP generally being bulkier and more expensive.

Which is more expensive utp cat5e or stp cat5e?

UTP is unshielded. Cheaper. STP is shielded.. more expensive.

Does utp have a grounding carrier?

No that would be STP

What is the maximum length of a STP?

The max. length of STP is the same as UTP, 100 meters

Which type of network cable is more reliable STP or UTP?

STP is more reliable due to shielding.

What type of networking cable is more reliable stp or utp and why?

STP is more reliable because it can withstand more noise abuse than UTP and therefore provide a more reliable transmission.

Why is UTP more common?

UTP is cheaper to install than STP or coaxial cable; therefore, it is a popular network choice

Dose STP or UTD provide more resistance to outside interference?

That would be STP versus UTP. STP provides more protection from interference, due to the shielding. "S" stands for "shielded" in this case. "U" means "Unshielded".That would be STP versus UTP. What are the advantages of using unshielded twisted pair cable?

One primary advantage of UTP over STP or Fiber is cost. Twisted pair is also more simple to use in many applications (telephone, serial data, etc.) than fiber.

cat5, cat6, utp, stp cables etc.

What cable UTP or STP is preferred by the industry?

The UTP (Unshielded twisted pair) cable is preferred; it's far less expensive to install in large amounts.
