As i understand, emycin is a framework for making consult-based systems. Its based on the structure of Mycin. its not an expert system, but a tool form making experts systems. Sadly, its a conclusion i got from reading stuff on the net. Its not accurate and dont have any biography. Hope it works for you.
Frame-based systems support class inheritance, i.e. the process by which all characteristics of a class-frame are assumed by the instance-frame.
A general-purpose search mechanism could rely on elementary reasoning steps to find complete solutions and could use weak knowledge about domain. However, when weak methods failed, researchers finally realised that the only way to deliver practical results was to solve typical cases in narrow areas of expertise by making large reasoning steps.
19.1 The accountant is likely to be:· A major user of the computer output· A designer of systems which supply much of the computer input· Responsible for internal controls over data processing in the organization· An expert in cost estimation and analysis· A designer of many of the systems which the computer is intended to supplant. With these responsibilities, the accountant must be actively involved in the computer acquisition process. The accountant's role is probably best carried out through participation in a team or committee effort, together with computer experts, systems analysts, production personnel, engineers, managers, and others whose functions are closely related to the information systems activity.
Lack of thinking power in computers was a challenge for the scientists. So they are trying for this and there all expectation about fifth generation computers are ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and EXPERT SYSTEMS. The scientists want the computer like a human being and these are all expectations about fifth generation computers.
Expert systems are ones that are used to keep the business running. The executive ones will be used by those in charge when needed.
EMYCIN is a derived version of MYCIN which was an expert system developed during the 1970s for administering right antibiotics to patients suffering from bacterial infections. EMYCIN ( Empty MYCIN ) is actually a general expert system shell created by removing some unnecessary domains of knowledge from the MYCIN program itself. This was done so , so that other knowledge engineers could built similar programs using the same expert system technology that MYCIN used.

Expert systems are computer programs designed to mimic the decision-making capabilities of a human expert in a specific domain. They use rules and algorithms to process knowledge and make recommendations or provide solutions. Expert systems are rule-based, utilize a knowledge base, and employ inference engines to draw conclusions.
They should be sure to avoid important topics such as: salvation, physical health, etc.
