The largest self-propelled man-made object ever built was the Jahre Viking or Knock Nevis, an oil tanker that dwarfs all other vessels of all classes and uses. It is 1,503 feet long, 226 feet wide and displaced over 500,000 tons when fully loaded. Compare that with a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier (97,000 tons) or even the latest cruise ship (Oasis of the Seas at 220,000 tons) and you get an idea of the scale of this machine. It has been bought and sold several times by oil companies, hence the multiple names. It has since been decommissioned and is now used as a floating oil storage platform in the Persian Gulf. Considering the economics of oil transporation, it is doubtful that another crude carrier of this size will ever be built again.

How is a orbit made?

An orbit is created when an object is moving at a high enough speed to counteract the gravitational pull of another object, such as a planet or star. The object's velocity and direction must be balanced so that it continually falls toward the larger object while also moving sideways fast enough to avoid crashing into it. This balance results in a stable path around the larger object, forming an orbit.
