What else do packets contains besides data?
Overhead. The packet header contains no useful data - at least, not useful for the end-user; it is of course very important to maintain the protocol functioning, for instance, the destination address is necessary in order to be able to send the packet to the correct destination.
What stores the data that the CPU actively uses?
The CPU registers. If the data is too large to physically store in a register, the register stores the memory address containing the data instead (usually a RAM address but could be any address in the physical address space, including ROM and graphic memory). On a 32-bit system, data registers need to be at least 32-bits long in order to store memory addresses.

Yes and No. Chat room websites do collect your IP address, as they use it to block you if you say anything offensive or threatening. They use your IP address to block you from going on their chat room through your computer. Websites that have a padlock in the address bar are safe, and don't collect you IP address, only information if you sign in/up to the site. Other websites, however, are unpredictable. You just need to make sure you only go on sites you know you can trust i.e. WikiAnswers.

No. That address is an RFC1918 address. There are sets of IP space reserved for private use. These ranges are 10.0.0.0/8; 172.16.0.0/12 192.168.0.0/24. Any address that fall within these ranges are by convention not routable on the internet. Each address on the internet has to be unique. There are only 4,294,967,296 possible addresses theoretically possible with IPv4. That sounds like a lot, but with over 1 billion computers worldwide, and another billion expected by 2014, this is likely to be exhausted at some point in the not too distant future. The solution to this problem is called NAT or Network Address Translation. Basically it allows you to create your own network (not directly on the internet), and then use one (or several) public addresses to communicate with the internet. Since more then one person can have the same address (for example: 192.168.0.1) the addresses cannot know about each other on the internet, as they would conflict. These addresses are kept as internal, and most routers (at least properly configured routers) on the internet will not pass such an address to the internet.

Ethernet address is really not a good term to use. I think you mean a MAC address. A MAC address is given to any device that accesses the internet. Such devices include WiFi cards, modems, and routers. These are only used by networks that devices connect to, and not by websites. They can be used for filtering and identifying devices on a network.Ip (Internet Protocol) addresses are assigned to networks (one per network) by an ISP (Internet Service Provider) such as Comcast. These are sent to everything you interact with online, so that your network, rather than your computer, is identified.Now there are two kinds of Ip addresses: internal and external. Internal are used by your network to identify each device that connects to it. External Ip's are assigned by your ISP to identify you to the world.
