The company cannot be certain that the new technology that they are investing with time and money will deliver the worthy profit and company achievement in the future. According to the textbook, the new product development failure rate can be as high as 95 percent; therefore, developing a new technology is expensive and risky (Schilling, 2010, p. 96)

I personally believe that also in that, we will slow down at some point but won't stop (as can be seen in the nanotechnology, that migration to smaller technologies does happen, but in a slower rate than a decade ago). However, there is an unlimited aspect of developing new ideas with the given technology, such as new algorithms and "building" new packages for the clients, using existing technology, but making a new product - this is the real IT (information technology) - the IP (intellectual property) is the future - having the innovative ideas of how to make an innovative thing with the well known technology.
