The keyboard shortcut function control-w or ctrl-w closes the window of the program you're in. It's the opposite of ctrl-n, which opens a new window.
you shouldn't have to. there is an option for viewing items in a folder, and it allows you to view them as a list, or in thumbnail form. there should be a drop-down arrow in the top toolbar of the window you're looking at the files in.
This is probably a joke, but to less knowledgeable PC users, the combination of Alt + the F4 key is a shortcut to close the application. (Macs don't have a series of F-keys, or Function keys, and it does not apply there). Usually can be seen on various internet forums as a response to pretty much any question, as the person will unintentionally close whatever they were working on.

In Windows or Linux closes the active window opened. If no one window are open the system asks to shutdown the computer.

Yes if you shutdown your computer t closes anything you have open at that time. Usually if I want a window to stay open on mine I will just close it and not do any shutdowns or log offs and it is still there the next time I open my computer.
