After the Mainframe and PC paradigm, Ubiqquitous Computing uses are going up-and-up. A truly ubiquitous computing experience would require the spread of computational capabilities literally everywhere. Another way to achieve ubiquity is to carry all of your computational need with you everywhere, all the time. The field of wearable computing explores this interaction paradigm.

The evolution of computer systems and their applications has been tightly connected with significant improvements of the techniques through which users can interact with the system. The range of user-interface techniques available has expanded enormously over different generations of systems, reaching from non-interactive batch systems, through line-oriented command language interfaces, full-screen menus and forms, to graphical, direct-manipulation user interfaces. This development can be seen as a continuous broadeningof the communication channel between the user and the system. Inrecent years, the output capacity of this channel has enormously increased with developments like bit mapped displays, 3D graphics,animation, and virtual environments. Future interface generations will utilize, in addition, a wide range of input techniques such as voice, gesture, and body movements in order to allow more implicit and natural ways of interacting with the system.
