Many of the oldest types of joysticks connect via a serial port. The next generation of joysticks used a port called the game port. Most of the newer joysticks available today connect via a USB port.

Usually the USB port - flat, rectangular port that is about 1/2 inch in length. Look at the size of you Ipod plug and that will indicate where to plug it in to your computer.
If the microphone has a USB plug, then plug it into the USB port on the computer. If the microphone has an audio plug, then plug it into the audio input port on the computer. If the microphone came with any software disks, then install those after plugging the microphone into the correct port on the computer.
