The first working television was demonstrated by John Logie Baird in March 1925. He showed his "Televisor" in Selfridges, a London department store. Four years later the BBC began broadcasting using the system.

In 1927, in America, Philo Farnsworth demonstrated his system. In 1929, he showed off a new television system that was fully electronic and had no moving parts. RCA used that technology to begin the first commercial broadcasts in the US in 1939.
