What was The first company to sell a computer and when?

This answer might not be accurate but... i want to give anyone as close to accurate as i can. I'm gonna have to say that the Nokia company was one of the first to sell the US computer. Depends on how you look at the question. The first personal computer plans, for public consumption, were for the Simon way back in 1950. Berkeley Enterprises sold 400 copies of the plans for Simon for $300. Not sure how many people actually managed to build their own desktop computers though. Simon was billed as a "mechanical brain".

Through the years, many other desktop computers were built, but they were either way too expensive or far too limited in what they could do to have any appeal. They either never made it to market or were sold to individuals that needed a machine for a specialised task. Not sure if many of them would even count as PCs.

The first identifiable desktop computer was the IBM 5100, built in 1975. The 5100 was not a success because the cost was way too high. The starting price for a basic machine was over $8,000 and went up to $20,000. This was back in the day when RAM was prohibitively expensive. The screen was so small, you would have to have excellent vision just to see it.

The first successful desktop computer was indeed developed by Apple. It premiered in 1977 and sold for the low, low price of $1295. Compared to the IBM boat anchor at $20,000, this was a bargain indeed. The Apple ][ revolutionised the computer industry and began the trend of putting a computer into every home (and now every pocket and purse)

The first computer to be given the label PC was the IBM 5150 PC in 1981.
