Helpful hint: if your question starts "what would happen if" consider rewriting it to be more specific. On answers.com, the number of good questions that start "what would happen if" is vanishingly small. It's possible for a good question to start like that, it's just not very likely.

Nothing "would happen". The computer wouldn't have a monitor. Big whoop. Computers don't actually need monitors; I've got a computer sitting right beside me that doesn't have one, and it works perfectly well.


It does limit to some extent what you can do with it. But it certainly doesn't keep it from working. Most servers don't really need monitors, or at least don't need them all or even much of the time (you'll probably want one to get the server set up, but once that's done, it'll happily sit there and distribute mail or domain names or IP addresses or web pages or files or whatever with no monitor).
