The first affordable personal computer was the Kenbak-1. All that it could do was turn on lights based on programming inputs. It could be used as a calculator with a little use of programming. Unfortunately, there were only about 40 Kenbaks sold.

The answer you are looking for is probably 8-bit graphics (that's 1 byte). But the first true display was 1-bit: either green (maybe amber), or black (AKA monochrome). As in - a pixel was either lit up (1), or it wasn't (0).Unless you're looking for the first computer graphic (ie. picture), in which case I advise to reword the question to correct intent.
The Apple 1 started selling in July 1976. The first Macintosh computer was sold in 1984.
