This is usually when your backup battery has died. Inside the computer there is (basically) a watch battery that stores information like time/date when the computer is turned off. If it doesn't get any power, it can't remember or update with the internal clock.
The only problem I can think of is the battery, located on the motherboard. Small, flat and cheap to buy. This small battery keeps the tiny little compartments on the motherboard running whenever there is no power directly in the PSU (the thing you plug the power into) when this battery runs our time, dates, small bits of information can be lost. Or the cylinder shaped things with the faintly outline of a cross on have bulged out. In this case the board is useless and you may have to buy a new motherboard :-)
The problem is - the back-up battery. Inside the computer - is a small back-up battery, which supplies a tiny amount of power to the internal clock chip, when mains power is not present (or the computer is switched off). It usually looks like a digital watch battery. The clock chip - keeps the date and time current - rolling the date over at midnight. However - the battery that supplies the chip does not last forever - and needs replacing periodically. Check with a local computer repair shop for the cost of replacement.
The problem is... the battery supplying power to the CMOS chip is faulty. There is a 'button cell' which supplies power to the CMOS chip when the mains power is off - to ensure the date and time remain current. However - the batteries do not last forever - and need replacing periodically.
If you're talking about the computer 'forgetting' the time and date... The problem is the back-up battery. Since it's usually fixed onto the motherboard, you'll need to take it to a repair shop.
Computers have a permanent storage (for example, a hard disk), where data is not deleted simply by turning the power off. If you lose the data, that means you haven't saved the data to your hard disk.
check the cmos battery, and troubleshoot it. you can change the cmos battery
the computer is probably set to a short term memory on it, i would give you the info on it but i don not now the year of it
Q: When you turn off the power to a computer at night it loses the date and you must reenter it each morning what is the problem and how do you solve it?
120 wattis
My Computer has done this before too. It means that your computer has been on for to long and is over heating, if you leave your computer on over night. Then what you should do is turn it off while you sleep, turn it off when you are not using it, and after downloading or adding things to your computer restart it. I hope I helped. =]
1 hour and 37 minutes.
It depends how long you are planning on leaving it for. If it is for overnight or longer then, yes, turn it off. If you are leaving it for less then an hour then you don't need to turn it off. If you need to leave it but are planning on going back on then there should be a hibernate or sleep option to use on your computer. Hope this helps! If you are not planning to use the computer for a long period of time, Turn it of.f it may be idle for an hour or less, use the hibernate setting,
No, just let monitor go to sleep unless you will be away for more than a couple days. Many computer experts say it is better for you to leave it on then reboot daily.
<improved answer>Just to correct the old answer, if the CMOS battery is dead, then the computer will not turn on in order for you to reenter it the next morning. It means that the CMOS battery is getting weak, and yeah, you could replace it. <old answer>It is most likely that the CMOS battery is dead. Replace it.

A pillow loses its head every night and gets it back every night. If the person sleeping on the pillow was working third shift, then the pillow would lose its head every night and get it back every morning.

A glass of beer has a head every night but not in the morning. A pillow is another answer to this riddle, as it gains a head when a person goes to sleep at night and loses it when they awake in the morning.
