there's a new site called www.onemansgarbage.net that seems to be pretty cool.
It doesn't look like there' s much on it yet as it is new but I believe there will be some fairly heavy traffic soon.

1. Recycling Centers : One of the best ways to dispose old computers are recycle centers. Computers are made up of different components. They need to be destroyed by other means.
2. Selling Usable Parts : Unless it is totally wrecked, you will find some usable parts. Remove parts which are working. Double check them and if you find them working perfectly then its better you sell them to electronic surplus stores.
3. Contacting Manufacturer : Contacting Manufacturer is one of the fastest ways to dispose. Check their website for info. email them and inquire. Different companies have different methods for accepting old items. Some may charge a small fee for disposing.

if it is semi new (running windows xp or newer) you can sell it on ebay.
your local flea market will probaly have a vendor who will buy it from you
