the ROM BIOS chip
The process of upgrading or refreshing the ROM BIOS chip is called flashing BIOS. The power menu in BIOS setup allows you to configure automatic power saving features.
From the BIOS chip.
All the settings from the BIOS are stored in a chip which is located on the motherboard. That chip is called EEPROM (electrically erasable PROM).BIOS configuration setting is store in special memory called CMOS. Which is little powered by a battery. RAM is volatile so when computer turned off, all data lost. This can also happen with CMOS but due to this purpose it is powered by battery. It consumption of power is very low and it can store data for 1 year.CMOS stand for "Complementary Metal Oxides Semiconductor".
The reason that causes your BIOS to reset to its defaults is a dead battery. Because CMOS (BIOS settings) is a volatile form of memory, the memory chip needs a constant power source, even when the computer is off. To supply this, there is a coin battery located directly on the motherboard. Simply replace this with the exact same kind and you shouldn't have any more problems.

your system's BIOS is stored on an unremovable chip on your computer's motherboard. your system's BIOS is stored on an unremovable chip on your computer's motherboard. your system's BIOS is stored on an unremovable chip on your computer's motherboard. your system's BIOS is stored on an unremovable chip on your computer's motherboard. your system's BIOS is stored on an unremovable chip on your computer's motherboard. your system's BIOS is stored on an unremovable chip on your computer's motherboard. it is permanently stored on one or two ROM ICs installed on the system board

Memory Modules
PRAM (permanent RAM )
The BIOS is located into the CMOS chip on the motherboard. It can only be accsed through the BIOS setting when you start up and device drivers are located in the root drive in the windows folder
the ROM BIOS chip
Yea the CPU,and the ROM bios chip is the most important chip on the motherboard, even the dma also.
BIOS chip
either replace the bios chip itself highly unlikely as most bios chips are soldered or get a new motherboard as its dead a failed bios is a dead board unless u replace the bios chip (if possbile)
CMOS Setup The BIOS is the name of the ROM Chip that holds all the data about how to start the computer up, and perform POST,Power On Self Test etc. And the CMOS was a software located on the BIOS Chip that enabled a UI for one to change the BIOS settings, ie like time, date, other settings.
It is stored in the BIOS/CMOS or security chip if there is such chip.
