Why are computer so fast?

The main advantage of the computer's speed is that a lot of data can be processed in a lesser amount of time compared to when the human brain is used. Also, with computers, the possibility of errors occurring is eliminated.

The computer never will be fast enough insofar as the duality problem. Speed factors remain that man can mutli-task and think faster than computers can sort data as of cositronics (my theory opposing positronics since Asimov did not define the latter enough). Cositronics is the human consciousness imparted to robotics and a main research project at ToI (The omnivergence Institute) Also, any hesitation between a command and action is not acceptable. High-speed cable internet is what I use and very good, along with about three gigahertz clock speed. Still if overloaded with graphics, the clock speed delays can take place. These are not acceptable to me nor anyone else as man's thought analysis has shown another phi ratio having one every 1 and half or 1.625 seconds. The question still holds "What is a thought" with syllogism being the standard getting us to apodosis. Mental shifts are the speed need, as man remains a natural changeling giving logic the boot nearly from the beginning with modern psychology in condemnation. Still what does transactional analysis have to do with computer technology? Man will continue to advance the computer because it is a poor reflection of him. Even if sophisticated robotics comes soon, they always will have an amusement factor, I believe, being quaint but not challenging by no means. We may believe the Mr. Data could be a reality, but I never found Data much of an intellectual threat. Descriptive analysis of high tech engineering is simply learning a rote schematic whereas true creative thought always will elude a robot. Even today I put in variable questions from the simpleton FAQ's which allude the written description. I find this amusing because my questions really are simple albeit many of my readers would believe to the contrary. Nevertheless, truly sometimes my questions are as simple as "How do I tie my shoe?" and I get the proverbial "run-around" through logic premise not even close. Here computer speeds are extremely necessary getting me through the many screens of nonsense. At least, it is nonsense in the sense of not applying to my question.

Moreover, it is the delay factor of speed that irks me when in the so-called high internet times; yet high-speed cable may have just infinitesimal delays. Nano second delays may be acceptable, but we are not there yet but it will come. However, Intel has not gotten us to one hundred gigahertz yet. When guys, I am waiting. Yankee group claim IBM beta has had it a long time ago. Terahertz should be right behind it. How about next year, but we need to sell the old chips first. Do not forget the "incremental status quo" or no innovation before we sell the inventory. Going too fast will get another Enron shakeout. It will happen because technology just can help itself to run amuck.

The general speed of a computer is determined by it's processor, also known as a CPU. The CPU is measured in gigahertz and on how many cores it has. An example would be my computer which has a 2.1gHz and dual cores.
