The official definition of gigabyte (GB) is 1000 megabytes (MB).

The use of 1024 for memory is due to the use of binary addressing.

Computers were originally structured with memory based up 8 or 64. So any larger memory will be a multiple of this. First floppy drive was 512KB. Double this and you have 1024. Then this continued up to the Gigabyte sizes.

I know this is not a complete explanation but this is how the computer was made.

How big is a meabyte?

1 byte = 8 bit 1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes 1 megabyte = 1024 kilobyte 1 gigabyte = 1024 megabyte 1 terabyte = 1024 gigabyte here in 1024 , 24 is negligible so we always use the term, 1 kb = 1000 bytes 1 mb = 1000 kb 1 gb = 1000 mb 1 tb = 1000 gb.

How much does 1024 gb equal to?

If you are using a mb that equals 1024 kb and a kb that equals 1024 bytes, then you have 0.0009765625 mb, you could also say 1 kb.If you are using a mb that equals 1000 kb and a kb that equals 1000 bytes, then you have 0.001024 mb, you could also say 1.024 kb.

How many MB are in a GB on a PC?

It varies on the units, depending on whether or not you're talking about SI. Its more commonly recognized that there are 1000 MB in every GB, but your computer should tell you that there are 1024 MB in a GB, because computer memory rises in increments of x^2 (Powers of 2) Ie. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 521, 1024. The quick answer? Either 1000, or 1024 ^^

How many KB 1 GB?

1000 terabytes = 1 kilabyte, 1000 kilabytes = 1 megabyte, 1000 megabytes= 1 gigabyte One mb is 1024 KB, so one GB is 1024 MB ergo 1024 x 1024=1048567 witch means that 1 GB is 1048567 KB
