Compute is simply the verb of the noun and what it does in the question. A computer computes. Computing is simply a function saying "do this task" like on a calculator (Those are computers) you can type 1+1.... it would then COMPUTE the function it was assigned by a user and hopefully read off "2" on the screen displaying the data it just computed. That is computing. A computer is simply something that performs functions. However, there are programs that are way more advanced that computers can do now-a-days such as connect to an infinite audience of computers rather than just basic math.

The only characteristic of any computer is the ability to compute. That's why they're called computers. However, an integral computer is a computer that is integral to another system such that both systems are integrated as a single system. A car computer system is an example of an integral computer. The computer in your microwave is an integral computer.
The name stems from the purpose of a Computer, which is to compute (or calculate). A Computer is designed to compute, and this may be for purely mathematical purposes or for other applications, such as running scientific simulations or running computer games. The Processor of modern Computers is the piece of hardware that computes, for instance, it could be given 3 and 5 and told to add them. The processor then computes the answer as 8. Of course, most Computers can handle far more complex calculations than this example.
