If your only new to computing you would be aswell to leave it up to a technician. Being honest it is actually a straight forward process once you know what your doing, but for a beginner there are alot of things that could go wrong.

For example:

You will have to figure out how many partitions you want on your harddrive and what size you want them to be.

Do you want to format your computer with fat or ntfs - quick or slow.??

That's the format over, now you need to reinstall the OS, that's straight forward enough anyway.

Once that's installed you have to get your drivers back up and going.

Chances are high (if you use the disk that came with your PC) your going to need install a new service pack.

Then theres alot of stuff on your computer you probably take for granted that will have to reinstalled (which may be frustrating for a beginner)...such as flash (if you go on YouTube), java (if you play games) adobe (if you use pdf's).

And what about your files, if you don't want to lose files you have to get them backed up beforehand and then put back on after the format. I would strongly recommend you go to a technician if you are only a beginner. Good Luck with it anyway. If you do decide to go ahead with it, and you get stuck on something send me a message.
