Your CD and dvdrw drives wont run on your dell dimension 5150 the trays open and close ok then a spinning sound for a few seconds then nothing Any ideas please?

Very likely that your lenses are dirty, especially if the computer is in a room where someone smokes. Check first to make sure that your computer operating system recognizes the drives. They should be listed and have drive letters assigned in "My Computer" for Windows systems. If so run a cleaning disk through them. If that doesn't work you may try manually cleaning the lens by opening the drive and gently swabbing the lens with alcohol soaked swab. Note that this will void your warranty, so if it is still in effect get it fixed by that route instead. If your drives are not recognized by your operating system, then possibly the IDE cables have become disconnected, devices connected in the wrong order on the cable, or jumpers are improperly set on the drives.
