To remove the belt from a Mazda 6, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the serpentine belt tensioner and use a wrench or socket to relieve tension on the belt. Slide the belt off the pulleys, taking note of its routing for reinstallation. Finally, remove the belt completely from the engine compartment.

To install the serpentine belt on a Vortec V-6 engine, first, ensure that the engine is off and cool. Locate the belt routing diagram, usually found on a sticker near the engine or in the owner's manual, to understand the correct path for the belt. Use a wrench or a ratchet to relieve tension on the tensioner pulley, slide the old belt off, and then position the new belt according to the routing diagram. Finally, release the tensioner to secure the belt in place, making sure it is properly aligned on all pulleys.
if its a 3.1 it has a timing chain! most 4 cylinders have a belt.
