Here the three main differences between a PC and a laptop:
1. Size
A laptop is portable and can be carried easily, which is particularly useful if you want to move it between work and home. A PC, on the other hand, is stationary.
2. Parts/Repair
Fixing a laptop is far more troublesome than dealing with a desktop counterpart. You can't exactly order up an extra hard drive and attach it yourself. Laptops require professional installation. A desktop, on the other hand, can be added and modified as you please. Almost anyone can learn to add computer parts like video cards to a PC himself but it's virtually impossible on a laptop. Everything from adding memory to an extra USB port is just easier and user friendly on a desktop.
3. Storage
It's easier for a desktop computer to have a bigger memory and to hold more RAM than a laptop computer simply because there is more space available for the storage. The space in a desktop computer will often allow the user to choose almost unlimited accessories and options that a laptop computer just may not have the space to hold. Things like a top speed processor, the latest state of the art sound and graphics cards, extra ports for external linking and more than enough storage space for all of the programs, music and video clips that you'll ever need.
The extra space also comes with one more big benefit that you don't often find with a laptop - the ability to easily upgrade. This means that you can keep your machine from becoming obsolete for much longer by continually adding the latest programs, components and accessories.

Basically just the size. A desktop has a rather large tower and monitor that are designed to do as the name suggests, stay put on a desk or table. A laptop is designed to be portable, and includes the keyboard, mouse (in the form of a trackpad), and monitor all in one easy to carry device.
A laptop (which many people mistakenly call a labtop), is the same thing. A pc, or personal computer usually refers to a desktop computer. However, since people use laptops and notebooks personally, a laptop and notebook can be considered personal computers.
I would suggest you buy a docking station for your laptop. This will provide all of the necessary I/O ports for the PC to PC KVM switches.
A laptop is a small compact form factor PC that is portable enough to sit on your lap, a desktop PC is larger with separate parts designed to be static and sit on your desktop.
The main difference is that Macs are all made by one company - Apple - which controls the specifications and capabilities of every Mac. PC is a general term for computers not made by Apple. There are huge differences between PCs and they all don't operate in the same way nor even use the same Operating System.
