By default, Vista automatically defrags a drive every Wednesday at 1:00 AM.
Defrag
depends on the OS, but for most it is : defrag <DRIVE> example: defrag c:
Every Wednesday at 1:00 AM
every wensday at 1:00 am
It doesn't - unless you've set a schedule. The 'default' is Wednesday mornings at 1am - which is pointless because the computer cannot defrag the drive while it's switched off ! You would normally set the defrag program to run at a specific time and day which suits your needs. You can set it to run daily, weekly or monthly at whatever time is suitable to you.
Not if you have a good reliable automatic defragger that runs in the background. Once you set it to defrag automatically you really never need to bother about defrag.
1 . Mac machines which comes with HDD requires defragmentation. SSD's no need. 2 . You don't need to regularly defrag a Mac's hard drive, OS X has HFS+ file ,which automatically defrag files of certain size. 3. Download Stellar Drive Defrag 4.. Install it and scan whole Mac, it will take some time and defrag your Mac properly.
Local disk Properties > Tools Tab
You don't need to defrag the system reserve but if you want to anyway there is a program called auslogis disk defrag that lets you defrag system reserve
yes, that is if you' re running windows XP & below.
If you want to run the windows dferagger, then set the scheduled task for whatever time on any particular day of the week (Actually its scheduled to do so by default in Vista and Win7). Its not the most reliable especially if your PC is switched off and when it runs the next time, it sometimes doesnt defrag completely. Alternative automatic options include commercial defrag programs that can be set to run in the background in real time and need no scheduling. More efficient and time as well as effort saving.
