In the context of Windows, cascaded windows is when you show all the windows on top of each other so their titles are showing. Each window is offset from each other by the height of the title so you can see the titles of as many windows as possible currently open. Tiled windows are laid out side by side so you can see all open windows next to each other. Each window is resized to an identical height and width and fill the current screen.
