Can a MacBook Pro be hooked up to an Escient S80?

If you have an older Mac that came with MacOSX 10.4.11 then yes, other wise it most likely will not work.

Escient is no longer selling branded products so your product is no longer supported above OSX 10.4.11.

They do still have their support site up and running but is no longer updating the software past MacOSX 10.4.11 and Windows XP. So any newer Mac will not work.

You cannot "downgrade" your minimum Operating system on the Mac (installing an older, lower numbered OS). If your Mac came brand new with OSX10.6 then you cannot install 10.5 or 10.4, if it does install it will either be extremely buggy or won't boot at all.
