yes, but get profesionals to do it,
The computer appears to meet the minimum requirements. However, because it is a laptop, other issues like heat output (especially with its AMD processor) may affect gameplay.
According to this fact sheet, 2005 was when they were first manufactured. http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:zbYKFY58YFoJ:www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2006/mobility/fs_dv5000.pdf+hp+pavilion+dv5000+came+out+in&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjrpyr0HlgURvBbpvjDe8DYsbY0zAg-G-Dx9cmEUHA69aYQWMH9p_1q7s7DZaZo_4ob0kjKvDTALhb9s05KiPn73hBeKlv1_KlzO11f7y2mQgKtZfHTdhb-9FIWYc_4rjD4odMx&sig=AHIEtbTE-q9-7H7uoSA5fn8jGn85z5k3Nw

HP Pavilion laptops can be purchased at several different places. Most local office supply stores, electronics stores, and computer stores sell them. Also places like Costco, Walmart, and Target usually have them in stock. You can also purchase them online at HP and many, many other websites.
My pavilion dv5000 is giving the same error message as yours when I try to install a new XP operating system. I got the laptop used with no hard drive and no recovery disks, so after installing and formatting a replacement hard drive, I bought new XP software, but it won't install! Just to verify that all the hardware is functioning as it should, I got Windows 98 to install properly, and the machine performs perfectly. It just won't allow new XP to be installed. I've come to the conclusion that this problem is due to some diabolical anti piracy technique invented by Microsoft. There must be some code relating to the product key embedded in the CMOS or BIOS that prevents the installation of any copy of XP other than what was originally sold with the machine. So I guess we'll need to try and get the original recovery disk, otherwise I don't know how to get around this problem.
