It's a simple response, but "Yes". Obviously it depends on the model, but as LCD tv's and monitors can reach 1080p resolution (or 2560x1600 @ 32bit) they produce pretty much everything on the colour wheel with the exception of perfect black. The weakness (already mostly overcome) of the LCD monitor is that it uses a lamp behind the liquid crystal and glass panes. A CRT monitor's blacks are a pixel that is actually OFF, as is the case with plasma. LCD's big struggle has been to match that perfect contrast, and most decent models do so now. As for white, the lamps used in high end LCD's produces some of the best and brightest whites around... it's the contrast with the black that has been the issue. I should add that it's not as though a good LCD TV or Monitor has blacks that look blue or horribly faded... this is a matter that is only an issue for serious technophiles (nothing wrong there) and a relative matter of quality in the high range of HD. It would seem that LCD has taken over Plasma, and will in turn be replaced by OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screens, an 11 inch version of which has been demonstrated. That of course, is another matter however. I hope this was helpful! S.D.

How different shades of colors are generated on a RGB monitors?

The combination of three primary colours Red, Green and Blue (RGB) can display all the colours depending on the intensity of each component. Varying the intensities of these three primary colours, the RGB monitor displays different shades. For example: White can be achieved by mixing all three in highest possible intensity. Similarly Black is shown by making the intensity of all three colours equal to zero. If the intensities of all three colours are same at any instant, then we get shades of gray.

Why your computer screen flickers and goes black?
