Not sure about the nature of the reports:
# A report as a text document that is created using OpenOffice.org Writer can be saved in various MS Office formats and therefore be read by MS Word.
# A report that is a form of an OpenOffice.org Base database? I'm not sure if that can be saved in an MS Access compatible format.
It's brilliant ! It provides all the functions of Microsoft Office - with the addition that users can get access to the actual program and make improvements. Microsoft will not allow users to do that ! I've been using Open office for about four years now, and would never go back to MS Office !
Word processors will create reports: Open Office Org, Microsoft Office Word, etc.
The main difference between open office and Microsoft office is that open office is a free, open-source software while Microsoft Office is a paid software. Open office can be easily downloaded and used for free, whereas Microsoft Office requires a product key to be purchased in order to use its full range of features. Additionally, Microsoft Office offers more advanced and comprehensive features compared to open office. However, open office can be a suitable option for basic document editing needs. Websites such as Softwarekey4u. com offer affordable and easy-to-use upgrade keys that allow users to upgrade their Microsoft product key without any hassle. This makes it easier and more cost-effective for users to access the full range of features offered by Microsoft Office.
Nobody. The Open Office suite of programs is 'Open Source' - meaning it's 'owned' by the community of users. The original program is owned by Sun Microsystems - BUT - it was designed so that you - the end-user - can manipulate it to suit your needs.
Yes. Partly. No. Depends on what you want to do. For general users there almost never are any problems, for advanced users there are some issues. Open Office can open and edit documents created and saved with Microsoft Word in Words native formats of .doc and .docx. Word cannot open OpenOffice's .odt format but Open Office can save as .doc (several versions), .docx and other file types that MS Word can recognize. You will find some incompatibilities if you have some advanced formatting, some table formatting etc.
Yes it will. Open Office is capable of reading a wide variety of documents created in other software packages.
The Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack is a software package designed to enable users of older versions of Microsoft Office to open, edit, and save files created in newer Office formats, such as those used in Office 2007 and later (e.g., .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx). It helps bridge the gap between different versions of Office, ensuring better collaboration and file sharing among users with varying software versions. The Compatibility Pack is particularly useful for users on Office 2003 or earlier who need to work with the latest document formats without upgrading their entire Office suite.
Open Office is free...but why?
The first version of OpenOffice was released on 30th April 2002.
Open Office is one of the leading Open Source office document productivity.
Usually there is no need to convert, since Open Office can read excel files (except Open Office probably will have problems with macros). If you have Excel 2007, then save the file in Office 2003 compatibility mode.
