Most definitely. I wear a back brace currently and it straitens my back while I'm wearing it , but doesn't stop its curve for good. After two nights without it it will continue to grow.
Yes. For one, scoliosis is when your spine is set irregularly, and you would need an upper body brace to straiten out your spine. Mild scoliosis is even worse. It's when your spine is set in an even more crooked positioning, and you would need a upper body brace and wear it for a few weeks. If you have it, you should see a doctor.
A crooked spine. It is treated with a back brace. One symptom of scoliosis is back pain. One indication of it is the shoulders not being even, one being higher than the other, the ribs being uneven, one hip higher than the other, these all vary according to the severity of the scoliosis and the location of it.
Curves of 40 degrees or more are highly likely to worsen, even in an adult, because the spine is so badly imbalanced that the force of gravity will increase the curvature.
If you have a spinal fusion, which is the most common surgery, you are not in a cast at all, you are wrapped in an ice pack and usually stay in the hospital for 4-10 days. no that is not true i had surgery for scoliosis where they put 2 rods in my back and a bunch of pins and all of that im pretty sure that is called spinal fusion! and i didnt have to wear a brace afterwards or an icepack it was a tough surgery but i will never have to wear a brace again at least and its almost been 6 months since my surgery and i am already dancing swimming and everything else a kid does so you never have to wear a brace again after scoliosis surgery! and i was only in the hospital for a week! maybe not even probaly 5 days cause i had an awesome doctor!
I have scoliosis and no one in my family has had it. So you can get scoliosis even if its not in your family history. There are 3 types of scoliosis, I suggest looking them up, I unfortunatly have the type that no one knows what's causing it. But the 2 other types are well know and if you have it they can probably do more for you than mine.
There are many celebrities with scoliosis, from olympic swimmers, actors, actresses and even royalty, I have added a link to my celebrity scoliosis page for you to see, if I am missing any, please let me know
Brace is a collective noun for a pair of something, like a pair of ducks, pheasants, or even pistols. So next time you see two of something strutting their stuff together, you can casually drop the term "brace" and impress your friends with your quirky knowledge. Just don't go around calling people a brace of humans, that might raise a few eyebrows.
If a person has fractured there ankle, they can purchase an ankle brace. They can obtain the ankle brace from Walgreens. Amazon.com is another way that an ankle brace can be gotten without even leaving the house.
It might, but you should have a braceing or even surgery before it gets that bad. Scoliosis is not likely to case pain in young patients, but if it grows, it should be braced. Yes it can, I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 10 and wore a back-brace for years. The scoliosis has also deformed my ribs, which causes problems with my lungs, for me, it's not constant, rarely I have shortness of breath, pain while breathing in and out or pressure in my chest (like the wind is knocked out of me). All of these only last for a few seconds at a time (maybe a minute) and not daily, sometimes not even weekly. I was told by my doctor that this is fine unless it gets worse. But I would suggest talking to your doctor about it, your situation may be worse or different than mine. Hope I helped and good luck!
yes!of course! sometimes it can be so severe, you can't even stand up straight!
I have talked to my doctor and have asked the same question. The rods for scoliosis must be left in for your entire life. they will never be removed. He also said that the rods are not uncomfortable, so you do not notice that they are even there. However, you may loose a bit of flexibility from scoliosis surgery.
whenever you need them u might not even get them
