Can virus destroy data

They sometimes destroy data of some companys , so they can earn money , and there are alot of other reasons , sometimes to spy .... but the sure thing that no one will do this for No reason !

Not all viruses are written to do so but a few viruses do alter, corrupt or delete data. It is perfectly possible for a virus, if so written by the author, to delete all the data from the harddrive. Windows will protect a few critical system files but otherwise it can all be overwritten or deleted. Even if you use encryption to protect your personal data a virus may be able to delete it.

From time-to-time rumours circulate that a 'new virus' can physically destroy a hard-drive. So far this has not been true.

Take regular backups of all important data on your computer and use a good anti-virus software product.

Viruses will not go away if you delete computer data. They will just duplicate itself and hide in other folders. Plus, deleting computer data will/can make your PC not function properly.
