Yes you can, however only one of them can be set to automatically answer - otherwise one will answer before the other.
Other options are:
- There are fax machines that have answering capability
- There is the option to have a "dual ring" line - (DRD - dual ring detection) is what's needed in both the answering mahcine and the fax machine for that - this way you would have two phone numbers but one phone line - the answering machine would be set up for line 1, the fax machine line for line 2, and the fax machine ring would be different. This works with voicemail as well.
need a line for a FAX MACHINE
It the computer is on the same line as the fax machine then no. The fax machine will dial the receivers number to ask for the fax receiver to allow it to send. as you are sending on the same line you'll probably get an engaged tone
Not unless the fax machine is designed to monitor the line and answer when the fax tone is heard. It is most often not automatic.
You connect the fax machine to the phone line - the same type of phone line that the phone is connected to. If you want to use the same phone jack, you may need to either get a phone line splitter, or some phones have an "extension" so that another line can be added to a phone.
Yes, most fax machines require a telephone line as well as a connection to the phone network to send and receive faxes. While there are some fax machines that can fax over an IP connection, this is still the standard method for connecting a fax machine.
If it is a "wireless fax machine" built for a home office or similar: You connect it the same way you to do a regular fax machine - by plugging the phone line into the appropriate place on the fax machine. There may be a base station that can transmit through wireless from the phone line to the fax machine. In most cases, however, a "wireless fax machine" is a wireless multifunction unit with fax capabilities. The wireless part is for printing and scanning, while the fax part still needs a phone connection to function. If it is a "wireless fax machine" built to work off of a cellular network: You'll have to contact your cellular provider - in most cases they'll have to activate it to make the phone connection work.
Make sure that you have separate phone line for you fax machine and separate for your telephone. If not, even normal calls will make your fax machine rings.
An internet fax machine is a fax machine that scans a document directly to email rather than sending it through the traditional phone line.
I was using a fax machine before and i always getting errors when there were problems with the land line, or the paper was out, or the ink was out.
Usually because it is set to pick up the phone line after the same number of rings as the answering machine...
Fax machines interrupt your internet signal if they use the same phone line your dial-up line. If you have a second phone line, you can hook the fax up to that. If you have DSL, Cable or FIOS internet - there should be no interruptions.
Yes, you cannot hook a fax machine directly up to the internet, and using a VoIP phone line frequently does not work. There are some fax machines that can send directly over IP, however they need a machine on the other end that is capable of receiving a fax over IP as well.
