No, removing the bios battery on a laptop will not reset bios settings.
I have a time laptop which keeps crashing. How do I find out which version of Insyde bios it should be using
Try turning it on via the BIOS. if a password is there find a battery in the laptop and remove it.
If it is a Mercury 1300 then remove the case and pop the internal BIOS battery - job done!
The BIOS is used to manage simple devices (system BIOS), the BIOS is used to start the computer (startup BIOS), and the BIOS is used to change settings on the motherboard (CMOS setup).
That sounds like a BIOS setting. Open the bios and see what you can figure out. there should be a setting that allows both the laptop screen and a remote monitor to be functional at the same time.
It could cause it to not POST at all, but neither of those sounds BIOS related.
Either set on under your Windows login - or in the BIOS system. WARNING - if you forget the password set in the BIOS you will have to re-format your whole computer !
It is on the underside of the motherboard. You will have to disassemble the whole laptop.
Dell's latest BIOS for your laptop features an improvement which keeps your laptop quieter, longer. They do this by raising the temperature at which your laptop must get to before the fan turns on. It may seem like your fan never turns on, but the truth of the matter is your BIOS is telling your fan not to turn on because it simply is not hot enough yet. Rest assured, when your laptop gets too hot the fan will kick on.
