In both ATX and BTX power supplies, the remote switch wire from the case must be connected to the motherboard's power switch header or pins. This connection allows the power supply to be turned on/off using the computer's power button.

Case: Your motherboard must be able to fit in your case and must support your motherboard size (correctly placed standoffs). Power Supply: You can't have a shortage of power or else your power supply will get overloaded and "die", or even possibly explode for that matter.
The case, motherboard, and power supply must all be the same form factor. Obviously the motherboard and the case would have to be the same or the motherboard would never fit in the case. Then the power supply must not only fit in the case, but have the same connectors as the motherboard. Otherwise it won't work.

The light bulb must be connected in a closed circuit with a power source, such as a battery or electrical outlet, for it to light up. This means that the positive terminal of the power source must be connected to the positive terminal of the light bulb, and the negative terminal of the power source must be connected to the negative terminal of the light bulb. This allows the flow of electricity to power the light bulb and make it light up.
You can measure the current and power of a 'power supply', using an ammeter and a wattmeter. With the power supply connected to its load, the ammeter must be connected in series with the power supply's input. The wattmeter's current coil must also be connected in series with the power supply's input, and its voltage coil must be connected in parallel with the supply, taking the instrument's polarity markings into account.

Hardware wise it is a motherboard, a CPU, a power supply which meets the power requirements for the motherboard, hardrive, and CPU, and a hardrive with the minimum required storage amount on it (you'll find this on the box for windows and in the description for Linux based OSes)
The generator has to be synchronized to the power line before it can be connected. If connected out of phase there is a chance that the generator will motorize and this could break the crankshaft of the prime mover.
The three components that must have the same form factor in a computer are the case, power supply and motherboard. The case should be able to support the form factor of the motherboard and the motherboard should be able to support the CPU socket type.
