Yes, a faulty map sensor can contribute to the P0171 and P0174 codes, which indicate a lean condition in the engine (too much air and not enough fuel). If the map sensor is malfunctioning, it may provide incorrect readings to the engine control unit (ECU), leading to improper air-fuel mixture adjustments. This can cause the engine to run lean, triggering those specific trouble codes. However, other factors such as vacuum leaks, fuel delivery issues, or clogged air filters should also be considered in diagnosing these codes.
po343 is camshaft sensor 1 bad and po171 is bank1 sensor bad, in English po343 cam sensor is mounted on back of engine and hard to get to, the po171 is bank 1 o2 sensor easy to replace.
The PO171 and PO181 codes refer to diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to vehicle emissions and fuel system performance. Specifically, PO171 indicates a "System Too Lean (Bank 1)," meaning the engine is receiving too much air or not enough fuel, while PO181 relates to "Fuel Composition Sensor Range/Performance Problem," indicating issues with the fuel composition sensor's readings. Both codes can trigger the check engine light and may require further diagnosis to determine the underlying issues, such as vacuum leaks, fuel delivery problems, or sensor malfunctions.
Fuel mixture is too lean. Could be anything from a vacuum leak, dirty MAF sensor, bad O2 sensor, etc...
po171-- system to lean ( bank one ).-this could be a vacuum leak, fuel pressure could also cause a problem. if a leaking vacuum hose you will hear a hissing sound from engine compartment. most of the problems can be corrected by just cleaning the maf sensor. you can buy a can of maf sensor spray at any auto parts store and just follow directions on can. on v6/v8/and v10 bank 1 is the bank that the # 1 plug is at. good luck!! i cleaned my maf sensor and it helped alot.
It means that the oxygen sensor is detecting a lean condition. This could be just a vacuum leak. HOW DO I FIND THIS LEAK AND WERE IS THE MAF SENSOR LOCATED
everyone says po171 and npo174 are map sensor problems, i do not think so, the egr pressure sensor collects vaccum and tells computer about the egr , what i am finding ,especially in winter, the 2 hoses going to the pressure sensor get full of crud and the sensor cant read anymore.Today i found a 1997 ranger with po171 and po174 codes ,the hoses were fine but ice had built up inside the knozles of the egr valve pressure sensor causing it not to read.check hoses and look for vaccum leaks first. I concur with the vacuum leak. To find, spray carb cleaner around all suspect hoses and manifold areas with engine at idle. When the idle speed increases, you have found the vacuum leak!
system to lean bank one 02 sensor ?
first try cleaning your mass air flow sensor.
leaking intake gaskets...
The code for a P0171 means the system is to lean.Check for a vacume leak first. You could also have low fuel pressure or a bad O2 sensor.
po171 means System too lean in bank 1 ,translation o2 sensor bad, probably the one before catalytic converter, but could be one after cat.
Trouble code P0171 means: Fuel System Too Lean - Bank 1 Trouble code P1135 means: Air-Fuel Sensor Heater Circuit Response Malfunction Replace the sensor and both code with go away There are 3 step to repair po171 error If you got po171 error then there is a 94% chance that your computer has registry problems.
