It depends on the personality of your cat or guinea pig. Some cats are very mellow and don't mind small children, large rodents, ect. But some cats are very stubborn and mean (like my cat). They run to or attack any small things that moves. Once, she got into my lizard's cage and pinned my lizard to the ground. Luckily i came in time. The same kind of thing happened to my hamster. So it mostly depends on your cat. Don't try to adapt a mean cat to your guinea pig. Mellow cats might be a little curious at first. But soon they won't mind. They might even become friendly towards your guinea pig. And if you are not sure what your cat's reaction will be, then just experiment. Hold your guinea pig in your hands. Let the cat sniff it once or twice, then if the cat walks away, it might be okay for them to interact more. If the cat is really curious, and tries to bat at your guinea pig with its paw, then make sure they don't see each other again.

They are not used to sharing. It is a good idea to buy a separate cage and put them next to each other and then they will know that they wanted to play with each other. Guinea Pigs will get used to the other Guinea pig if you leave it in the cage a little.
