Do mice make good pets

Mice make great pets for certain people. First of all, if you want an animal that lives a long time, is super healthy, doesn't need a lot of care, then DO NOT get a mouse. However, they are WONDERFUL for those who want a sweet, fun, energetic pet and they should be willing to work hard to keep this animal healthy. Now, buying a mouse is a big decision and is not for the fainthearted (just kidding :) ) Here are Pros and Cons of owning a mouse:

PROS- They are adorable and energetic pets for mature children ten and up. I know of plenty od adults who keep mice, too! Great for teaching responsibility. They are relatively easy to take care of, get along very well with humans, and super easy to train. Also, domestic mice DO NOT spread diseases to humans. They make great pets for either gender (I am a girl and I have owned mice 3+ years)

CONS- Unfortunetly, Mice are smelly creatures ;) but that can be taken care of by purchasing female (males smell more D:) mice and cleaning their cages often. Pet stores are also NOT reputable breeders and their mice tend to be unhealthy (I just started buying my mice from show breeders instead). Mice are also breed rapidly and the last thing you want is to accidently buy a male and female, there up to 32 mice per litter!

Sure, they can. Just make sure that you get a chance to see their living situation. You don't want to purchase from a place that has them in dirty, crowded tanks. Also, make sure they seem healthy and that they are socialized, so you have a friendly pet. They should enjoy being held, or at the very least not bite you when you try to hold them. You can always work on trust once you have them home, but if they are biters, it will be much harder to break this fear.
