Generally, Linux is considered very secure from viruses. If you exercise general safety behavior, it is unlikely that any virus will enter your system. Even if a virus does get through into the Virtual Machine, it will only affect your Ubuntu install, not Windows.
Support for Secure digital (SD) Memory Cards
Most modern operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, mainframes) support SSH and SSL.
Linux is considered to be more secure than Windows.
Windows Vista is notably far more secure than Windows XP.
You can secure a windows phone by using an antivirus and applications that prevent unauthorized use.
Over what?If over Ubuntu 10.10 or other newer:There are none, better get Ubuntu 10.10 or 10.04 if you prefer more stable, Long Term Support OS.Over Windows:-Better stability-It's faster(though you can improve it even more, by downloading Xubuntu, which uses xfce4, which is much faster than GNOME)-You're almost sure to never get any viruses-No need to reinstall system, defragment hard drive, etc.-Easy software downloading and installing, auto updating.Compared to WindowsAdvantages:-security (default settings and operating system structure is designed in more secure fashion compared to Windows)-stability (unless you go diving where you ought not your system shouldn't crash)-free (can download without pirating)-many free applications (there are many programs out there, that are capable of replicating windows application functionality)-variety (Linux can run on a much wider variety of hardware than Windows)Disadvantages:-unfamiliar interface (for those who use Windows, learning Ubuntu may take some time)-not all Windows applications have comparable Linux alternatives-not all Windows applications who have no alternatives can be run via the WINE compatibility layer
Windows 2000
Almost all Linux file systems are secure, so you're best off using latest non-development file system: ext4
* Most Linux operators are more familiar with the inner workings of their systems than most Windows users, so they are usually more capable of setting up their machines securely. * Many Windows "features" require execute and other priviledges on the machine. This means that, by default, Windows security is set up to be looser. These priviledges can be taken advantage of by people with malicious intentions against users that have not made adequate security adjustements on their machines. * Most "hackers" want to get the most bang for their effort. Since Windows is used on far more computers than Linux, they focus their efforts on creating hacks or viruses that effect Windows systems.
ArchLinux: Arch Linux is a lightweight and flexible Linux distribution with a simple user environment. The independently developed, x86-64 general-purpose GNU/Linux distribution provides the latest stable versions of most software by following a rolling-release model. The features of this distribution include pragmatic distribution, user centrality, versatility, simplicity, among others. Debian: Debian is a popular stable and secure Linux based operating system. Various popular Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, PureOS, SteamOS, etc choose Debian as a base for their software. Notable features are: Extensive hardware support Provides smooth upgrades Security support for releases. Free and open-source software.
There are many benefits of Ubuntu or other Linux operating systems, but some of the main ones are listed here:It's FreeExcluding Red Hat, most Linux distributions are open-source and are free to use and distribute. In addition, Ubuntu has a variety of free software alternatives to paid software; e.g. LibreOffice ($0) instead of Microsoft Office ($120 or more). It's FastUbuntu requires much less from your system compared to Windows, allowing even old computers running Linux to be as fast as new ones running Windows. Already have a fast computer? Even better. It's SafeLinux distributions, while still susceptible, are much more secure from viruses and malware than Windows, partially because there are much less viruses made for Ubuntu than there are for Windows, and also because of requiring the administrator to enter the root password before allowing anything that can potentially cause harm to the computer to run. Also, the security prevents inexperienced users from destabilizing crucial parts of the system. It's CoolThere are many neat features that Ubuntu has that Windows still lack, one of them being the Virtual Desktops feature. This allows you to have the equivalent of four separate monitors running in on, which means no more cluttered windows all over the desktop. Compiz also allow you to add cool effects to the desktop. It's EasyDespite common assumptions, using Ubuntu can be just as easy as using Windows. Right up from the installation process, a user-friendly window guides you through the steps of setting up your computer. Installing software is made easier, too by packages and the Ubuntu Software Center. This allows you to to download and install the software and all the stuff it needs to run in one click, instead of trying to hunt down a specific pre-required software on the Internet.
