It depends on what type of memory you are talking about. With RAM (Random-Access-Memory), the amount of information it can hold is fairly low, but the speed at which the computer can access the information is much faster than the speed of a hard drive.
Another factor in the speed of computers is the CPU and the motherboard itself. Depending on when the motherboard was manufactured and how good the CPU is, there is a limit past which the motherboard will not be able to use any more RAM you put in the computer. Filling the capacity of the motherboard for RAM does improve PC speed, but if the CPU is an old or slow one it won't matter.
Also, the hard drive memory (which is larger in size but information takes longer to access) can factor into speed. If the hard drive that the operating system is installed on is completely full, then it will slow down the computer. The reason is that when the RAM is maxed out, the computer will automatically configure part of the free space on a hard drive to use as RAM.
Speed(memory), or S(m)
The memory of a computer is measured in bits, most commonly megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB). The speed of a computer is measured in Ghz.
RAM is the memory that is the fastest.

RAM (Random Access Memory)
High speed memory that reside between the microprocessor and RAM in a computer.
Newer hardware technology typically provides for greater amounts of memory to be accessible. Newer, more powerful programs demand more memory. If your computer does not contain enough memory, programs will either run excessively slow, or they can "hang" your system. If this is occurring, the least expensive way to speed up your computer, is to upgrade (increase) your RAM memory.

You may have to many programs up for your computer to handle, or it can be you memory all together, This can slow you down because the hard drive have more to scan, (Memory is stored in a file on a hard drive) changing the overall speed of your computer loading and speed.
It depends on the speed of your internet connection and the speed and memory of your computer.
RAM (Random Access Memory) is used to store information for the programs running now while the computer is powered. Cache memory is RAM that a computer microprocessor can access more quickly than it can access regular RAM.
